This workshop is for those who have some experience of working with children and young people and would like to develop their knowledge of children, young people and child developement.  It will be particulary useful for workers who are undertaking assessments and are concerned about the level of need or risk experienced by the children and young people they are working with.

The workshop will include:

• Theories of child & adolescent development
• Children & young people in the context of care / support work settings
• Consider issues of attachment
• Working with self-esteem
• Thinking styles
• Need & Risk in the Context of Child Development
• Explore & review methods of intervention
