Communicating Effectively with Children and Young People

This interactive half-day training provides a supportive space for professionals to develop a deeper awareness of their own communication style and enhance their ability to engage effectively with children and young people. Designed for individuals in roles requiring strong interpersonal connections, this course offers practical strategies to foster clear, supportive, and meaningful conversations with children and young people.

You’ll gain valuable insights into key communication principles and learn techniques to adapt your approach based on a child’s needs and developmental stage. Through interactive learning and realistic scenarios, you’ll explore how simple changes in the way we listen or the words we use can have a profound impact on a child’s emotional and mental well-being.

Cost: This course is charged at £65 per person for non-members OR £50 for members of CiNI.

About the Trainer:

Shannon Hollywood is a qualified Social Worker with over 14 years of experience supporting children, young people, and their families. Through her direct work with young people, Shannon has developed a deep understanding of how effective communication fosters stronger connections and better outcomes for children. She now runs her own private business, dedicated to supporting parents and professionals in understanding the needs of children and equipping them with the skills to engage in positive, supportive interactions.
