Life Story (In-person)

Location: In person training delivered in CiNI, 40 Montgomery Road Belfast, BT6 9HL

This workshop will explore practical ways to support children and young people (*in particular those who have experienced transition) to understand their own personal Life Story, with the aim of promoting a positive sense of ones self.

It will explore ways to support the child / young person to understand their own personal life events, cultural heritage, sense of belonging and history in a sensitive way.

The training will include practical strategies to assist with this, including collecting and collating information, recording and also advice on how and when to share this information with young people, with a focus on promoting emotional well-being and identity.

This workshop is aimed at professionals who are supporting children and young people who have:

• Experienced a transition and are no longer living either in their country of origin or with their nuclear birth family;
• This may include those who are now living in Northern Ireland, but who were born in another country;
• And / or children & young people who have experience of the care system or adoption, and who could benefit from work to help them to understand their early beginnings.

• Our funding restrictions are such that this training is only available to those who work/volunteer for a voluntary, charitable, faith or community-based organisation. Please ensure you meet this criteria before applying.
• CiNI is located in the 40 Montgomery Rd business park. Please enter the stairwell by Podium for Sport and go to the 1st floor. We have free parking. Metro 6 (Cregagh Rd – Montgomery Rd stop after the large roundabout).
• Lunch will not be provided. You can bring your own lunch or order from Cafe EJ (below CiNI)
• Due to the high demand for this training we can only offer a maximum of 2 places per organisation. Please do not apply for more than 2 places.
• Registration is at 9.50am for a 10am course start.
