The Family Model – Awareness Training
In Partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support

What is The Family Model?
What is The Family Model?
The Family Model is a family-focused practice serving adults, children and youth affected by mental health challenges.
The model provides clinicians and managers with a brief, accessible and practical approach to family focused practice.
The emphasis is on the reciprocal links and influences in the relationships between family members, regardless of whether the affected individual is an adult, adolescent or infant. These relationships, which are a part of everyday family life, are also a key determinant of health outcomes for everyone in the family.
Awareness Training
Awareness Training
As part of Macmillan’s Psychological Care Programme, CiNI has developed a bespoke Family Model Awareness Training workshop for Mental Health & Cancer Professionals.
This workshop will;
• Look at the interplay between parental mental and physical wellbeing, children’s welfare and family relationships and functioning.
• Introduce the concept of family focussed practice and the Think Family Model.
• Introduce participants to the TFM tool and it’s application to individuals and families experiencing a cancer diagnosis.
• Explore and practice the skills in having a family focussed conversation and using the TFM tool.
The workshop will be a mixture of teaching, demonstration and skills practice. Each participant will get copy of all the materials and the Think Family Model.
