This training event will enable staff to explore adverse childhood experiences and resilience. Ciarán Traynor (CiNI Learning & Development Officer) will introduce the relevant theory and models (morning session) and the afternoon session will journey through the real-life personal, interpersonal and institutional trauma experiences of David Gillen (Social Work Consultant) to help you make sense of the theory and research on adverse childhood experiences, resilience, trauma and attachment.
This training will explore
- The personal, individual and societal lifelong impact of ACEs and trauma
- Local and national research on adverse childhood experiences and trauma
- What resilience is and how we can enable it
- The importance of self-care
- What we can learn from David’s experiences and what we can do as practitioners to ensure our relationships and services are trauma informed
Important Information:
- Our funding restrictions are such that this training is only available to those who work/volunteer for a voluntary, charitable, faith or community-based organisation. Please ensure you meet this criteria before applying.
- CiNI is located in the 40 Montgomery Rd business park. Please enter the stairwell by Podium for Sport and go to the 1st floor. We have free parking. Bus: Metro 6 (Cregagh Rd – Montgomery Rd stop after the large roundabout).
- Lunch will not be provided. You can bring your own lunch or order from EJ’s Cafe (beside CiNI)
- Due to the high demand for this training we can only offer a maximum of 2 places per organisation. Please do not apply for more than 2 places. Contact hayley@ci-ni.org.uk about availability.
