This Level 1 programme provides foundational awareness of mental health, emotional health, and wellbeing, while equipping participants with practical skills in suicide prevention. It combines theory, reflective learning, and interactive exercises to reduce stigma, strengthen understanding, and promote early, safe intervention.
This programme will help you to:
- Develop a shared language around mental health, emotional health, and wellbeing.
- Understand the continuum of mental health and its relationship to flourishing, coping, and illness.
- Explore the impact of safe, trusting relationships, brain development, and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
- Build knowledge of suicide prevalence in Northern Ireland and the risk/warning signs for adults and children.
- Practice responding effectively to distress, including asking directly about suicide and supporting safety planning.
- Promote self-care and resilience for those supporting others.
