Parents, carers, schools and communities are encouraged to make meaningful connections as Parenting Week 2026 takes place from Monday 19 to Friday 23 October.

Children in Northern Ireland (CiNI), through its Parentline NI service, is proud to lead Parenting Week 2026 (Monday 19 – Friday 23 October 2026), a week dedicated to celebrating and supporting parents and carers across Northern Ireland.

This year's theme, "Making Connections," celebrates the importance of relationships in family life and encourages parents, carers, children and communities to find simple ways to connect with one another.

Connection can be found in everyday moments, from spending quality time together and sharing conversations, to reaching out to another parent or bringing people together in the community. These moments can help strengthen relationships and remind parents and carers that they are not alone.

Throughout the week, Parentline NI and organisations across Northern Ireland will be publishing resources and hosting a range of activities and events  to encourage families, schools and communities to get involved.

Natalie Whelehan, Chief Executive of Children in Northern Ireland (CiNI), said:

"Parenting Week is an opportunity to celebrate parents and carers and recognise the important role they play in children's lives. This year's theme, 'Making Connections,' reminds us that meaningful relationships are built through everyday moments and that strong connections can help children, families and communities thrive. We're delighted to see Parentline NI leading this campaign and bringing organisations and families together across Northern Ireland."

June Onyekwelu, Head of Service at Parentline NI, said:

"Parenting can be rewarding, but it can also feel challenging at times. Having someone to talk to, spending time together as a family or connecting with other parents can make a real difference. Through Parenting Week, we want to encourage everyone to think about the connections that matter to them and find small, meaningful ways to strengthen them. And if parents or carers need support, Parentline NI is always here to help."

Parentline NI offers free and confidential advice, support and guidance to parents and carers across Northern Ireland. Anyone who needs a listening ear can contact the service on 0808 8020 400.
