CiNI responds to Department of Health Budget 2023/24 Equality Impact Assessment

Children in Northern Ireland (CiNI) has responded to the Department of Health’s public consultation on their Equality Impact Assessment of the Budget 2023/24.

Our analysis shows that:

  • The cumulative impact of budget cuts on children and young people will be severe and long-lasting;
  • The Department of Health’s decision to cut Core Grant funding for organisations will damage the Community and Voluntary Sector infrastructure and negatively impact services;
  • All departments must properly assess the impacts of budget decisions and re-prioritise resources to ensure that our most vulnerable and disadvantaged children are protected.
