What is Parenting Week?
Parenting Week is a dedicated time to celebrate, support and raise awareness of the vital role that parents and carers play in shaping our children’s lives, families, and communities.
It’s a chance to support and uplift parents and create lasting impact – improving child/parent/carer wellbeing, reducing inequality, and building stronger, more connected communities.
It highlights the value of early intervention and the power of family, carers and community support (the village) in raising our wonderful children.
We want to hear your ideas for this year’s Parenting Week.
Previous Parenting Week Themes
‘Parent Well’
Supporting parents to parent effectively while emphasising parental self-care and mental well-being.
‘For Every Family’
Celebrating the diversity, strength, and unique journeys of all families across Northern Ireland.
‘The Positivity of Parenting’
Acknowledging the major positive impacts parents make on children’s lives – the joy, fulfilment, and strengths of parenting.
‘In Your Corner’
Increasing public awareness of available support, reminding carers that organisations like Parentline NI are ready to help..
‘Reset and Reconnect’
Encouraging families to reconnect with family, friends and community following COVID-19.
Help Shape Parenting Week 2026
Parents and carers are at the heart of everything we do, and we’d love your ideas to help make this year’s Parenting Week meaningful, relevant, and inspiring.
We’re inviting parents and carers to share their thoughts on what topics, activities, and supports would be most helpful for families in our community. Whether it’s building connections, supporting wellbeing, navigating challenges, or celebrating the joys of family life, we want to hear what matters most to you.
We’re also looking for parents and carers who would like to join a Parent Panel. The panel will help shape Parenting Week plans, provide feedback on ideas, and ensure that parent voices are reflected throughout the programme. No special experience is needed, just a willingness to share your perspective and help us create something that supports families.
Your voice matters, and together we can make Parenting Week a celebration of the strengths, experiences, and needs of parents and carers.
Please complete the survey or get in touch with ppinbox@ci-ni.org.uk for further information.
